In order to maintain the leading position of Blockchain research in Hong Kong and increasing its impact of Blockchain research worldwide, the Research Centre for Blockchain Technology (RCBT) was established on 21 June 2022. The RCBT coordinates PolyU researchers working on blockchain in different departments, fosters internal collaboration and external collaboration with leading partners, and attracts and nurtures blockchain talents. The effort is to develop innovative theory and techniques, as well as maximize use of blockchain applications in different aspects.

In the future, RCBT will develop and incubate innovative blockchain-based applications in several strategic areas and cultivate blockchain-savvy talents.
